ACEO-sized, 2-1/2x3-1/2. Several media used; acrylics, watercolour, coloured pencil, micron pen.
Brown Pelican by Denali

Feather painting. I pushed really hard on the realism with this one, a Brown Pelican in summer plumage.

Research brings pleasant surprises-- who knew pelicans have such beautiful seashell blue-green eyes?

Medium: acrylics on feather
Tags: feather bird painted pelican seabird
Tarot: the Hanged Fox by Denali

Funny -- I thought I'd uploaded this one here, but discovered that I hadn't. The Hanged Man, or fox in this case, represents indecision, a choice to be made, or delay due to indecision. Is his precarious position to give him a better (or at least different) perspective on the matter?

I want to redo this one. I like the overall mood, but there are some elements I'd like to put in there, such as a forked road behind him representing a decision to be made.oO(Which path do I take? Left or right?) The symbolisms in any given Tarot image can be SO much fun to research!

Medium: acrylics
Tags: fox tarot
Orchid and Frog by Denali

I love the jewel-like colors of so many of the Rainforest's amphibious residents!
Tarot - The Fool by Denali

One of these days I'll finish this deck! Lots of little symbolisms in this one. Instead of the classic dog, I used a butterfly...is he a travel companion, or is he trying to warn the cat? The cat's stride is quick and confident, being the optimist that he is--he'd better watch his step! Yellow is the color of importance in "The Fool", so I used it prominantly. The rising sun symbolizes new beginnings, new ventures. His walking staff is of diamond willow, a tree that grows throughout the far north where men sought their fortune. On his lyre are carved acorns, for from the humblest little acorn the mighty oak may grow. I forgot to put in the rosebuds, though... so I will be redoing this one. Tarot is a good project if you're a research fanatic, and I definitely am. :)

Medium: acrylics
Tags:
RCAF Vickers Viking by Denali

I love vintage aircraft! The series of "flying boats" produced by the Vickers company of Canada I find particularly intriguing. The Viking was the smallest of the class. I may try to draw some of the others as well. The crew? Airdales of course!

Medium: colored pencil
Tags:
